Introduction :
the aleppo city since long centuries is known by
planting Aleppo pistachios, who called in Iran (pista), and In Egypt (pistachio green),either in the
Arabian Maghreb it knew by name of
(pistach), The Aleppo city is famous in planting him,
until became known in all world by name (aleppo pistachio).
The Aleppo pistachio trees is known since the
Assyrians, but the original home of Aleppo pistachio is (Ein AL-Tainah
)in Syria.
this tree was known since 3500 years BC the West
Asia and the Levant,and the name (Aleppo pistachio) is
proportion to Aleppo as a traditional planting this tree since
the oldness.
the clear signals of the planting this tree in
the Syria is across finding old trees of P. vera (oldest
specimens close to 1800 years) in the Ain El-Tainah village,
Kalamoun District, about 60 km north of Damascus These trees are
still productive, and one of them has a trunk circumference of
about 11 m.
long ago was the Aleppo pistachio is implying to
the Aleppo city,but it now is implying to the Morek, this small
town (located in the middle area, north of the Hama city and
near the Idleb city)
and whose became the largest producer of Aleppo
pistachio in Syria. that number of the Aleppo pistachio trees
in the Morek town is about 800 thousand trees,from them
about 750 thousand fruit trees,consequently,estimating the town
production from the aleppo pistachio in 2006 is more of 40
thousand tons,and it is in increase of ceaseless this has
encouraged of a rapid expansion of pistachio fields around Idleb

Nutritional value of the aleppo
pistachio:
The Aleppo pistachios are great tasting and full
of nutrients. A one-ounce serving is a generous 49 nuts and
contains more than 10% of the Daily Value for dietary fiber,
vitamin B-6, thiamin, phosphorus and copper. A serving of
pistachios is naturally cholesterol free and contains 13g of
total fat, of which just 1.5g is saturated fat, the fat is
predominantly monounsaturated, similar to that found in olive
oil.
Pistachios contain 3.87 grams of linoleic acid
per one-ounce serving. That is 22% of the 17 grams per day NAS
set for men and 32% of 12 grams per day NAS set for women.
